Crochet Thomas The Train Blanket

I have been working on this blanket for a couple of weeks. Its been something that i've picked up in-between my motherly duties but its finally finished!

Jasper is in LOVE with this and knew what it was just by the colors.

I used Lion Brand cotton ease yarn since their blue was the PERFECT thomas blue and its pretty much in my top 3 favorite yarns!

My sweet friend Andrea gave birth to her little baby boy last night. He surprised her and came a month early! Perfect in every way. 

Amongst the excitement i remembered i hadn't gotten round to making his present! I actually had NO idea what i was going to buy or make. I remember Andrea saying Benson (don't you love his name?!) already had a lot of clothes so i had settled on making him something BUT what the heck do you make the child of a redonkulas crocheter and all around crafter?! pffttt.. 

Well after a little googling i found this like ... HERE

And came out with this ...

A cute little snuggle blanket/ toy! 

The pattern is in Swedish but it translates well enough on google translate. 

I used my own pattern for the granny square and wings then used her pattern for the toy head. I then made up my own eyes and nose. 

I think it turned out pretty sweet. It will probably be my go to baby gift from now on! 

Maddox tried it out a little, he loved the little ears tickling his face.

After taking apart my huge bobble blanket i have had ALOT of yarn just chillin' out in a bag. I used some to make a chunky granny square blanket then decided to keep going on with the chunky theme and make this chunky chevron blanket. Bigger is better right now. 

Its so fast and easy to make these chunky blankets, its fun and satisfying. 

This blanket measures smaller than any other I've made before but its PERFECT for a little baby car seat blanket, new born photo pro, smaller cuddle blanket ... probably anything really haha. 

It measures 29 inches tall by 23.5 inches wide.

Made with 100% cotton yarn, its soft and durable. 

I Love this cute little blanket, It's a perfect size for my little boy right now but heres what I'm going to do ....

here's a pattern ....

Hook size: Q

take 4 balls of yarn and bring the ends together to make one chunky piece like this ...

{ picture is used from my chunky granny blanket so thats why I'm making a circle}

Chain 34 {if you want to make it bigger chain multiples of 16 and add 2}

Row 1: Dc in 3rd ch from hook; dc in next 6 ch, 3 dc in next ch, dc in next 6 ch; 

*work 3 st dec in next 3 ch, dc in next 6 ch, 3 dc in next ch, dc in next 6 ch.

Repeat from * across. 

End by working 2 st dec in last 2 ch. Ch 2 and turn.

Row 2: Skip first stitch; dc in next 7 dc, 3 dc in next dc, dc in next 6 dc;

 *work 3 st dec in next 3 stitches, dc in next 6 dc, 3 dc in next dc, dc in next 6 dc.

Repeat from * across. 

End by working 2 st dec in last 2 dc. Ch 2 and turn.

Repeat row 2 until its as long as you want it.

R.I.P bobble blanket, Hello chunky chunky.

If you are my friend you have probably met this project before. This is my bobble blanket, the beautiful bobble blanket that my dear friend Andrea inspired me to make. At first, i loved it, but after a few MONTHS i loathed it. I got over half way, this this was BIG, too big! i kept it in the yarn draw and hated looking at it every time i took out some yarn. I started at me with its unfinished bobble eyes. ugh. I shouldn't have mad it so big, or let my husband pick the colours, i like the colours i just don't LOVE them and for such a big project i have to love the colours. 

Anyway, i killed it. Dead, finished, in yarn heaven where it belongs. I unravelled it all and made something new ..... 

A chunky granny square blanket!!

i had so much yarn left from taking apart the bobbly blanket that i put 4 of the same colour together and crocheted as normal, like this ... 

Its so much fun crocheting things on a giant scale, this blanket is baby size right now but alan says to make it bigger!
