I've spied a lot of these fabric pumpkins popping up all over the place this year and i love them, they are cute, cheap and simple to make AND you add a lot of variety to them since you use fabric.
I wanted to make some but really couldn't be bothered to start measuring things and dragging my sewing machine out {which doesn't seem to work very well since i let someone borrow it } So i discovered you can make something very similar without sewing a single stitch!
TaDahh! No sew pumpkin decorations.
Sadly, i don't have a step by step tutorial but i can just tell you how i do it ...
You will need
-Fabric, any size you like, if you want to make a big pumpkin, grab a big piece, small? get a small piece!
- Stuffing, I used polyfiber fill
- yarn
Step One: lay your fabric down
Step Two: put your stuffing on top of the fabric in the center
Step Three: pick up your four corners and hold them in your hand, then start to pull in the other hanging sides.
Step Four (optional): stuff your pumpkin a lit more through any gap while still holding onto your main corners.
Step Five: take your yarn and wrap it around the fabric where your hand is holding it, tie it in a tight knot. You will have a pineapple looking pumpkin.
Step Six: twist the remaining fabric just to make the 'stem' tighter and give it shape.
Step Seven: Take your yarn and wrap it around the 'stem' ALOT, just keep wrapping it around making sure to go up and down and get even coverage. Tie in the lose end of yarn.
Step Eight: Take a long piece of yarn and wrap it around the pumpkin a few times to create 'segments'. pull tight and tie in a knot under the pumpkin.
Your done, they should take you around oh i dunno 20 seconds?!
I'll probably end up making a few more of these in halloween colours eventually. Maybe then i will get a better tutorial up!
