Slouchy pom pom beanie, free crochet pattern

I love a good slouchy beanie in the winter time, especially on the boys.

I made this little thing the other night for Maddox while he was asleep and under estimated the size by a good 4 - 5 inches! I was sad since its SO cute and perfect for winter. I can always make him another one right?

Heres the pattern for it, its super straight forward and will fit a newborn baby but i'll tell you how you make it bigger.

Hook size H
any medium yarn

We start out by crocheting a rectangle shape.
Chain 31
{ you can chain as many chain stitches as you want, this determine the length of the hat from the forehead to the pom pom. So for this New born size hat i chained 31}
Row 1: Hdc in the 2nd chain from hook and in every chain across
Row 2: chain 1 and turn, Hdc in the back loop only across.
Row 3 - 24: repeat row 2
sew 2 sides together to make a tube.

Using green, single crochet around the top of the tube twice.

Using a yarn needle take a long piece of yarn and sew in and out of the top end of the tube (the end you didn't just single crochet) This will act as a draw sting. Once you sew in and out around the top pull it tight and tie in a knot and attach a big pom pom
If you don't know how to make one then theres lots of tutorials out there!

This is what happened when i made maddox try it on.

cone head. Poor kid!
now i just need to find a new born that i can give this hat to!

Fox Tail and Hat

Jasper loves hats at the moment, yes mid summer i know! But he loves to put them on and walk around shouting HAT!

I needed to make him a new hat to play around with when this idea came into mind. i searched around looking for a pattern of a crochet fox tail and found nothing. Thats when i decided i would just make my own!

I love the movie Fantastic Mr. Fox and hope jasper will love it one day too. When that day comes, he will have his own little dress up out fit!
For some reason Jasper always feels special walking around knowing he has ears and a tail, I think any kid would!

Yes, that is my kid dressed for winter in the middle of the roasting summer sun. child abuse, all in the name of getting a picture!

I still love his little pea coat. I'm hoping to squeeze him in it still come winter time

The tail attaches using the clip from a clip on tie, I found the tie at a second hand shop for a dollar! If you know how to crochet and are fairly quick, this project should only take a few hours at most! This could also be a good starter project since its super easy and doesnt take long but gives you practice at a few different stitches.

You can purchase this dress up kit from my etsy shop (pattern or finished product)

Simply adorable .....
