kiss clasp coin purse

I have been itching to purchase this wool from Joann's for awhile now and i finally have lots of projects in mind that called for this wool! Theres a few brands of wool out there and it is obviously a bit more expensive than your average yarn but lion brand sells this beast for $10.99 (or less if you have a coupon, like i did!) so i went with lion brand since they gave me much more for my money. I've read that people feel its too thin but it's PERFECT for my projects, i'm even considering making a big afghan out of this stuff, i love the earthy colours they have to chose from!

My first project with this wool is a little kiss clasp coin purse, it's still a work in progress but i couldn't wait to share my first attempt!

This was simple enough to make but there are a few things i need to work out. I couldn't find any kind of pattern (well no free ones anyway) so there was a lot of trial and error involved. I really want to add a fabric lining but i can't seem to get the size right! When i calculate it mathematically (i'm a geek) its perfect, when i put the lining in the bag IT'S NOT PERFECT ... freak out!!

For now, it's still cute without the lining.
I plan to sell these little beauts in my Etsy once i set it up so watch out!

I plan to make more in a variety of colours, they are sure to make the cutest christmas/ birthday presents!

  4. i don't sorry, i used a lot of trial and error working it out but basically you crochet a flat circle that will be the width of the purse and then you just crochet up how ever many rows until you have it the height you want it. to find out how big to make your circle, make a chain so that the chain will fit snug around the rim of your purse. The amount you chain should be the size your circle needs to be so if you chain 40 then your circle should measure 40 stitches around. This isn't a proven method, i just know this worked for me. hope this helps! Don't forget to follow my blog!!!
    thanks, Elisa
