Pegboard Cross Stitch.

I've had this peg board stuff hanging around the house since we took it off Jaspers crib {cadge}
Jasper was in the habit of getting his fat legs stuck between the bars of his crib, we would have to spray him with cooking spray to push those chunky legs back out! So Alan came up with the idea of zip tying peg board all around the sides of the crib to stop this ... it totally worked! Now he's in his toddler bed and we no longer need it so i decided to use it to make some art work for the boys room.

A few days ago i finished the hot air balloon mobile for Maddox.
I love the balloon theme that seems to have developed in the boys room.

So here is what i produced in a night using a few simple left over craft items ....

Like it? well this is how i made it ....

What you'll need:

* Peg board {you can buy this from the average hardware shop}
* Paint
* Yarn {i used some left over lion brand cotton ease}
* Yarn needle

Step one

Take your peg board and cut it to the size you want it. You can usually get them to cut it for you at Lowes, sometimes you can find left over scraps that they give to you for really cheap!

Step Two

Paint it, i decided to paint mine white, Alan kindly told me as i was doing this that you can actually buy it in white! but since i already had the brown stuff, it didn't matter anyway. So when painting this there is really no easy way to get in all those little holes. It sucks! What i did was get a huge brush and just painted over it, the paint would get in all the holes and drip and look really messy so once you paint it, get a smaller brush and go into all the little holes and clean it up a little. It takes a little time.

Step Three

Once you have painted it your ready to start sewing on your design. When it comes to things like this I'm a total freak and can visualize my lines without having to draw it out. SO for those who aren't creepy like that you can take a pencil and lightly draw out your image.
Your then going to take your yarn needle and yarn and just sew in and out of the holes and create a cute little piece of art work.....

I decided on the outside of my ballon that just sewing around once didn't look that good, i wanted it thicker so i went around it 3 times. For my clouds, i wanted them to look a little more fuller so i cross stitched in the middle.

That's all, its really simple and can be done in one evening!
Feel free to copy my design, if you do and blog it then please link it back to me.
