Autumn Door Banner

I've been adding slowly to my Autumn decorations. Slowly meaning i haven't done anything since the crochet acorns. This evening i made my door wreath. It's not a wreath at all in any way but it IS on my door.

Yeh thats me in the glass, there was no way of getting around being in this picture.

The Fall is fast approaching so i decided now isn't too early to display my fall door banner. I'm not a fan of burlap it seems so ... American to me! hah seriously though, everyone uses burlap for EVERYTHING! I decided to go a little outside the box.

Anyway, Here's how you make one! 

You will need...

- Wood, Any will do, just make sure its at least 29 inches long and 5 1/2 inches wide. I paid 51c for mine at Home Depot, i found it in the cull lumber section {just go to the man in lumber and ask to see the cull wood} 

- Saw, I used a circular saw

- Nails & Hammer

Something to hang your triangles, twine, Yarn, ribbon, fabric. I used fabric ribbon from MeriMeri.

- Paint

- Letter stamps

Step One:

Measure and draw out your triangles. I actually just measured one to start with, 4 inches widest the top.

Step Two: 

Cut your triangles out. After cutting one i was able to line up the next with out even measuring or drawing using my {husbands} saw. 

Step Three: 

Im a bit of a freak for doing things by just using what i have at home so this is how i made hooks so my triangles could hang on my ribbon. I nailed in a long nail as far as i dared to then jut bent it over!

Step Four:

I made sure that all my nails were secure and that the ribbon would fit nicely under them. 

Step five:

Paint your triangles any color your like! I tend to want to stray from the traditional autumn reds browns and oranges but thats just me! 

I then stamped my letters in white using foam letter stamps.

Step Six:

I honestly had NO idea how i was going to attach this to my door right until i got to that point. My door has some screws already in the window frame so i just took them out and slipped my ribbon under the screw and screwed it back in. If i didn't have this option, i would have looked for some kind of suction circle thing, you know the kind i mean? anyway, i bet hobby lobby will have something good! 

But there you have it! easy, cheap! {51c} and took about 2 hours total! {I'm being generous with my time there}
